We get asked all the time, “Is BKB kid-friendly? What can kids do here?” Kids are great climbers and all of BKB’s regular climbing is open to kids 4 and older. We also have events and classes tailored just for children. Click on one of the links below or scroll down to find out more about our kids-only programming.
Weekend Family Hours
BKB is now opening its doors at 8AM on Saturday and Sunday for Family Hours. From 8 to 11AM the gym will be open exclusively for parents and children who want to enjoy a weekend morning on the walls. Want to avoid the weekend crowds and get hands on instruction for first timers? Want your kids to have an awesome climbing experience that will have them coming back for more? Come to our weekend Family Hours and you’ll enjoy the best of what BKB has to offer for you and your kids. We will commence normal operation and open our doors to everyone at 11AM. Learn the Ropes
Learn the Ropes classes can be prebooked for Family Hours. Topics covered include knots, kids harnesses, belaying, and more. However, kids under 14 years old can participate by being your climbing buddy while the class is going on.

Belay Service
During Family Hours, you can schedule child belay service where our staff will belay your child as long as he or she wants to climb. We always keep our staff to child ratio at 1:4 or below, so your kid will get all the climbing they can handle!
Private Belay for Kids and/or Adults - $60/hour for up to 4 climbers

Birthday Parties
Got a kid who likes to climb? Try throwing their next birthday party here at BKB. We have party space available for birthday groups small and large. Our standard party package includes one hour of climbing time for the kids and one hour for you to use our party space for pizza, cake, presents, or all of the above. We allocate staff for belay time so that your kids stay safe and can climb up our roped walls. Any climbing gear that the kids need is also included in the price of the birthday party. We will also set up as many tables and chairs as you need for your party in our kids room or yoga studio. You can use our refrigerator for any food you bring, and order pizza or other food from nearby vendors if you’d like. We also have pricing available for additional staff belay time. We’ve had parties as small as 4 kids and as large as 50, so book now and give your kids a party that rocks! (Pun intended.)
If you don’t quite “qualify” as a kid anymore, don’t worry cause you can still have your party here at BKB!

Kids Academy
BKB Kids Academy is our after school program for kids ages 5 and up. Each weekday from 4:00 to 6:00 your kids can come to BKB and climb under the supervision and coaching of our staff. Activities include stretching, climbing games, roped climbing, and slacklining. We allocate one staff member for every 4 kids to make sure every participant gets their fill of climbing and stays supervised and encouraged.
Kid’s Academy includes:
Day Pass and Gear Rental ($28 value)
2 hours of climbing and other challenges
Staff supervision and basic coaching

Adventure Days
BKB Adventure Days are Brooklyn Boulders’ most popular children’s offering. Adventure Days run from 9:00 to 3:30, though you may drop off as early as 8:30 and pick up as late as 4:00. The day is packed with fun things like top roping, bouldering, slacklining, kids yoga, and other great activities. BKB provides snacks, but be sure to pack your child a lunch.
Our staff members are all experienced climbers, and we’ve got more than enough energy to keep your kids happy the whole day. This isn’t your typical babysitter-type staff. We get to know the kids to make sure that all of their needs are met, and that they are having the best possible time. Staff will take the kids to the park across the street for lunch, weather permitting. Every child receives a free BKB T-Shirt.
